In•tuition is a word with a simple etymology, i.e. internal tuition. It means, something that teaches you from the inside.
I use intuition. I trust intuition every time I need to come up with a disruptive solution.
Whenever I begin my search in a new sector, I look for existing products and solutions, pricing models and for promotion logic in the operation of value creation. I look at big trends in the sector, as well as at similar industries' trends. All these help me set up the scene, set up the context of the problem. This is the classical formula of 4Ps - Product, Price, Place, Promotion - helps me structure the needed info to feed the solution, the product design.
Still, the true, big solution always comes unexpectedly for me. It can happen at 3 a.m. in the morning or while jogging in the park. When it comes to me - I wake up with a feeling of the solution.
This feeling is in the shape of a story, a few words, sometimes a drawing. It helps having a notepad, handy for scribbling down the words or the drawing that just wants to come out from the inside.
The sensation feels right. All I need to do is trust this ‘tuition’ as it always teaches me right.
